An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join a supportive small animal practice in the West Midlands on a 7-month maternity cover contract, starting in November 2026.
This is a particularly flexible part-time opportunity, with the practice looking for cover on Mondays, Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays, meaning candidates able to offer one, two or all three days will be considered. Working hours are 9:00am–7:00pm.
The role would suit an experienced Vet confident with first-opinion consultations and surgery who is looking for a defined-term position with consistent weekday hours.

The Role
You'll be responsible for delivering high-quality clinical care across a varied first-opinion caseload while working collaboratively with the wider practice team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering consultations and surgical procedures
- Providing high standards of patient and client care
- Developing appropriate treatment and care plans
- Maintaining accurate clinical records
- Working to high regulatory, clinical and operational standards
- Working collaboratively with the veterinary and nursing teams
- Sharing clinical knowledge and supporting colleagues
Rota
The role is offered on a part-time basis for 7 months, commencing in November 2026.
- Monday – 9:00am–7:00pm
- Tuesday – 9:00am–7:00pm
- Wednesday – 9:00am–7:00pm
- Candidates able to offer one, two or all three days can be considered
No weekend or OOH requirement has been specified for this maternity cover position.

The role offers the opportunity to manage your own cases while working collaboratively with experienced veterinary and nursing colleagues.
