Night Veterinary Surgeon – Chorley, Lancashire (FTC)

5 nights on / 10 nights off | 7:00pm–9:00am

The Opportunity

We’re recruiting for an experienced Night Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established, community-focused 24-hour veterinary hospital in Chorley, Lancashire, on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident vet who enjoys emergency and inpatient care, values structured handovers, and wants to work within a supportive, well-staffed night team. You’ll have everything you need on site to deliver high-quality ECC care without working in isolation.

The Practice & Team

You’ll be joining a large, friendly and experienced hospital team, including:

• Multiple day and night RVNs

• A dedicated night nursing team

• Experienced Veterinary Surgeons across day and night rotas

• Strong leadership support from an established practice management team

The practice is well equipped and set up to manage a varied caseload overnight, allowing you to focus on patient care rather than firefighting.

Rota & Working Pattern

• 5 nights on / 10 nights off

• 7:00pm – 9:00am

• Full-time night position

• 12-month fixed-term contract

What We’re Looking For

• RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon

• Comfortable working in a night / ECC environment

• Confident managing medical and surgical emergencies

• Strong communication and client care skills

• Able to work collaboratively with nurses and colleagues

• A calm, organised approach to overnight caseloads

What You’ll Be Doing

• Delivering high-quality clinical care overnight

• Managing emergency and inpatient cases

• Providing clear updates and compassionate communication to clients

• Preparing treatment plans and cost estimates

• Working closely with the night nursing team

• Completing accurate handovers to the day team

• Maintaining high clinical, regulatory and operational standards

• Supporting a positive, collaborative overnight working culture

Must Haves

• RCVS Registered (or soon to be)
• Possess the right to work in the United Kingdom
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
