An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a well-established, locally owned small animal practice in Greater Manchester. Offering a salary of up to £37,000 FTE depending on experience, flexible shift options, no OOH and excellent development opportunities, this role would particularly suit an RVN who enjoys theatre, anaesthesia and surgical nursing.
You'll be joining a stable and experienced nursing team within a modern practice where RVNs are encouraged to develop their interests and make full use of their clinical skills.

The Role
This is a varied first-opinion nursing position, although there is a particular opportunity for an RVN who enjoys spending time in theatre.
One of the practice's Veterinary Surgeons has recently completed a Surgery Certificate, creating an excellent opportunity for a nurse who enjoys anaesthesia, surgical nursing and being closely involved in theatre cases.
You'll be involved across the nursing rota, with responsibilities likely to include:
• Theatre nursing and surgical preparation.
• Anaesthetic monitoring.
• Assisting Veterinary Surgeons during procedures.
• Inpatient care and monitoring.
• Patient admissions and discharges.
• Nurse consultations.
• Laboratory work.
• Supporting diagnostic procedures.
• Maintaining high clinical and infection-control standards.
• Working closely with the wider veterinary and nursing team.
The practice also provides dedicated nurse clinics, giving RVNs opportunities to work directly with clients across areas including preventative healthcare, nutrition and weight management.
Rota
The position is full-time, working 40 hours per week.
The current shift pattern consists of:
• Early shift: 8:30am–4:30pm.
• Late shift: 11:00am–7:00pm.
• Alternatively, there is the option to work four longer days per week if preferred.
• 1 in 4 Saturdays, with time off in lieu.
• No OOH.
• No overnight inpatient checks.
The practice itself is open seven days a week, currently operating 9:00am–7:00pm Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm Saturday and 10:30am–3:00pm Sunday.
Facilities & Team
You'll be joining a locally owned practice run by an experienced Veterinary Surgeon and RVN Practice Owner.
The wider veterinary team has interests spanning general medicine and surgery, dentistry, ophthalmology, emergency and critical care and ultrasonography, giving the nursing team exposure to a varied range of cases and opportunities to continue developing clinically.
The established nursing team includes experienced RVNs with interests including theatre nursing, animal behaviour, microscopy and nutrition, alongside animal care and front-of-house colleagues. Several members of the team have been with the practice for many years, providing good continuity and an experienced support network.
The practice is modern and well equipped, with facilities including:
• Digital X-ray.
• Ultrasound.
• In-house laboratory.
• Biochemistry and haematology.
• Blood pressure monitoring.
• Dedicated operating theatre.
• Hospital ward.
• Separate dog and cat wards.
• Isolation facilities.
• Separate cat and dog waiting areas.
• Dentistry facilities.

• Nurse consultation clinics.
About You
We're looking for an RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse with good general nursing skills and a genuine enthusiasm for delivering high-quality patient care.
This position would particularly suit someone who:
• Enjoys theatre and surgical nursing.
• Is confident monitoring anaesthesia.
• Enjoys working as part of a close clinical team.
• Has good general nursing experience.
• Is organised and able to help keep a busy surgical day running smoothly.
• Has excellent client communication skills.
• Takes pride in providing high standards of inpatient care.
• Wants to continue developing clinically through CPD or further qualifications.
You'll be joining a practice where professional development is actively encouraged, with support available for both CPD and certificates.

The practice has built an experienced team with a number of long-serving colleagues. Its RVN Practice Owner has been with the practice since 2007, becoming a partner in 2017, while another RVN has been part of the team since 2008.

The practice is based in the Tameside area of Greater Manchester, providing good access from Manchester and surrounding areas.
