Registered Veterinary Nurse | Ayrshire, Scotland

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a progressive and independently owned veterinary team working across three established small animal practices in Ayrshire. Offering a salary of up to £36,000 FTE depending on experience, this position can offer flexibility around working hours, with a minimum of three days per week considered, a 1 in 4 Saturday rota and no OOH.

The opportunity is open to both experienced RVNs and newly qualified nurses, with extensive clinical and leadership support available across the three practices and excellent scope to develop interests including anaesthesia, inpatient care, imaging, Schedule 3 surgery, acupuncture, pain management and behaviour.

The Practice

You'll become part of an independently owned and locally operated group of three small animal practices across Ayrshire. The practices share clinical expertise, resources and support while retaining a strong community-focused approach.

The wider team comprises around 60 colleagues, including 14 Veterinary Surgeons and 14 RVNs, together with three Clinical Lead Vets and three Clinical Coach RVNs. The structure also provides nursing support from senior nurses, clinical nursing management and an RVN business partner.

Importantly for an RVN, nurses are encouraged to develop and utilise their clinical skills rather than being limited to routine supporting duties. Across the wider team there are nursing interests and additional training in acupuncture, pain management, behaviour and Schedule 3 surgical procedures.

The current practice information also demonstrates considerable clinical experience within the nursing team, including colleagues with backgrounds in ICU, hospital nursing, surgical and medical wards, exotics, inpatient care, anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging, feline nursing and clinical coaching. There is also good veterinary expertise to support the nursing team. Clinical interests within the current Vet team include soft tissue surgery, rabbit medicine, diagnostic imaging, ultrasound, internal medicine and laparoscopic surgery, with postgraduate certificate holders and clinicians undertaking further qualifications. The Location

One of the principal practices currently operates 8:30am–6:30pm Monday to Friday and 8:30am–5:00pm Saturday, with Sundays closed, and offers onsite parking. Vets4Pets

The Role

This is a permanent RVN position with full-time hours available, although the practice is happy to discuss flexible working arrangements and can consider candidates working a minimum of three days per week.

The Candidate

The practice is happy to consider both experienced Registered Veterinary Nurses and newly qualified RVNs beginning their careers.

You'll be passionate about veterinary nursing and committed to delivering excellent clinical and client care.

The role would particularly suit someone who enjoys variety and wants to continue developing clinically within a larger nursing structure where there is plenty of experienced support available.

You'll need to be comfortable working collaboratively across different teams and locations and bring a positive, proactive approach to the role.

Existing clinical interests are welcomed, but equally the practice is keen to support nurses who are still deciding which areas they would like to develop.
