🐾 Locum Veterinary Surgeon – ASAP Ongoing – Kent 🐾

We are recruiting for an experienced Locum Veterinary Surgeon to provide regular ongoing cover at a friendly independent small animal practice in Kent, starting ASAP.

This is a 3–4 day per week opportunity offering a steady and manageable first-opinion caseload, no compulsory weekends, excellent nursing support and an accommodation allowance for locums travelling into the area.

💷 Rate: Up to £500 per day
🏠 Accommodation allowance: Up to £50 per night

🏥 The Practice

This is a friendly independent veterinary practice offering a more personal working environment and a steady, manageable caseload rather than an excessively pressured or high-volume workload.

The locum will be the sole Veterinary Surgeon on site but will typically work alongside one or two RVNs each day, together with the wider support team.

The practice provides first-opinion medical and surgical care with access to the diagnostic facilities required to investigate and work up cases appropriately.

🩺 The Role

You'll manage a varied first-opinion caseload encompassing consultations, medical work-ups, preventative healthcare and routine surgical procedures.

You should be comfortable examining and diagnosing patients, developing appropriate treatment plans and using available diagnostic facilities to support clinical decision-making.

Routine surgical confidence is important, but this is not a requirement for an advanced surgeon. The practice is primarily looking for a capable and dependable GP vet who can confidently manage the day-to-day caseload.

🐾 The Vet

We're looking for an experienced small animal vet who is comfortable working sole charge and confident making independent clinical decisions.

You'll need to be comfortable with:

• General consultations and sick-pet appointments
• Routine surgery
• Medical case work-ups
• Diagnostic investigations
• Anaesthesia and perioperative care
• Inpatient management where required
• Clear client communication and treatment planning
• Working collaboratively with the nursing and support team

The combination of 3–4 weekday shifts, no compulsory weekends, a manageable caseload and up to £50 per night towards accommodation makes this an attractive longer-term booking for both local and travelling locums.
