The Practice

The vacancy information describes a team of approximately 3.5 Veterinary Surgeons, three Veterinary Nurses, two Veterinary Care Assistants and four Receptionists, led by a highly experienced RVN with around 28 years in veterinary practice.
The practice's current website also shows an experienced veterinary team including a Clinical Lead alongside Veterinary Surgeons and RVNs, reinforcing the supportive clinical structure available to the successful candidate.
The practice is open 8:30am to 6:00pm Monday to Friday and 8:30am to 12:00pm on Saturdays, with Sundays closed. Emergency care outside normal opening hours is provided externally, so there is no routine OOH requirement attached to the role.
The clinical offering is broader than the original vacancy brief suggests. Alongside routine consultations, diagnostics and surgery, the practice website confirms services including echocardiography, cruciate surgery, blood transfusions, dedicated inpatient care and soft tissue surgery.
Facilities and services include:
• Digital radiography.

The Location

The area offers an excellent balance between city amenities and access to the Nottinghamshire countryside, making it well positioned for candidates commuting from Nottingham and the surrounding areas.
The Role
This is a permanent full-time position working 40 hours per week, together with participation in a 1 in 4 Saturday morning rota from 9:00am to 12:00pm.
You'll manage a varied first opinion caseload incorporating consultations, routine surgery, medical investigations and case work-ups. With access to ultrasound, echocardiography, digital imaging, laboratory diagnostics and surgical facilities, there is good scope to investigate and develop cases within the practice.
The practice is looking for a Vet who wants to continue progressing clinically rather than simply working through a routine consulting caseload. CPD is actively encouraged and support is available for candidates interested in studying towards a certificate.
With the practice closed on Sundays and external emergency provision outside normal opening hours, there is no routine OOH requirement.
The Candidate
The successful candidate will be an RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon with at least two years' small animal practice experience.
You'll be confident with routine consultations and surgery and comfortable working up medical cases to a good clinical standard.
Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach are important, together with a genuine commitment to patient care and building good relationships with clients.
The role would particularly suit someone looking for an established practice where they can continue developing their clinical interests with the backing of experienced colleagues and funded professional development.
