The Practice
This established and growing small animal practice has developed an excellent reputation for creating a supportive environment where colleagues stay and develop their careers long term. Established in 2014, the practice has grown significantly while retaining its close-knit and collaborative team culture.
The practice has previously been recognised as Practice of the Year following nominations from its clients and has also received a Supportive Practice of the Year award in recognition of the support provided to a new graduate.
You'll be joining a substantial clinical team comprising 11 Veterinary Surgeons, six Registered Veterinary Nurses, three Student Veterinary Nurses, three Veterinary Care Assistants and four Receptionists.
There is an impressive level of experience across the team, with many colleagues having between three and 18 years of post-qualification experience. This creates an excellent environment for collaborative case discussion, mentoring and continued clinical development.
Professional development is strongly encouraged, with Veterinary Surgeons within the team currently working towards certificates in areas including exotic medicine and internal medicine. Certificate study and individual clinical interests can be supported for the successful candidate.
The Location
Located in West Dunbartonshire, the practice offers convenient access to Glasgow while also being ideally positioned for enjoying some of Scotland's most attractive countryside.
The area provides excellent access towards Loch Lomond and the surrounding national park, making it particularly appealing for those who enjoy walking, running, cycling and outdoor pursuits while still wanting easy access to Glasgow and its amenities.
The Role
This position can be tailored around the successful candidate, with both full and part-time working patterns available from approximately 30 hours per week.
The practice is particularly interested in an experienced Veterinary Surgeon who would enjoy joining a growing team and potentially supporting or mentoring less experienced colleagues. However, there is flexibility around the structure of the position depending on your clinical interests and preferred working pattern.
A consult-only position can also be considered for a Veterinary Surgeon who prefers to focus primarily on medical cases and consultations.
Weekend commitments are flexible depending on contracted hours. Full-time colleagues participate in approximately 1.5 weekends in 8, while part-time arrangements could involve as little as 1 in 10 weekends.
There are no out-of-hours requirements.
The Candidate
The successful candidate will ideally be an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon looking to become part of a stable and supportive team.
You'll be passionate about delivering high standards of patient and client care while enjoying working collaboratively with experienced veterinary and nursing colleagues.
The practice would particularly suit someone looking for long-term development, whether that's progressing towards a certificate, developing a particular clinical interest or taking greater responsibility for mentoring and supporting other members of the team.
Veterinary Surgeons looking for a consult-only position are also encouraged to apply.
