An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join a modern, independent small animal practice in the Newbury area of Berkshire. The Practice
This modern first opinion small animal practice forms part of a well-established independent veterinary group that has been delivering high-quality veterinary care for over fifteen years. Remaining proudly family owned throughout its continued growth, the group has built an excellent reputation for investing in its people, facilities and equipment while maintaining a genuinely supportive working environment.
Having opened recently, the practice offers a fantastic opportunity to join a growing surgery with an expanding client base, allowing you to play an important role in its continued development while helping build long-term relationships with clients and their pets.
You'll be working alongside an experienced and supportive team, including the practice owner, an additional Veterinary Surgeon, experienced Registered Veterinary Nurses and the wider multidisciplinary veterinary group. Although elements of the rota currently involve sole charge, there is always support available from more than twenty Veterinary Surgeons and over seventy colleagues across the wider group, together with regular input from visiting medical and surgical clinicians.
Dedicated referral support from visiting ophthalmology, soft tissue and orthopaedic surgeons further enhances the clinical offering while providing excellent opportunities to develop your own knowledge and skills.

The Role
Applications are welcomed from Small Animal Veterinary Surgeons with a minimum of two years' UK practice experience.
Both full and part-time opportunities are available. The full-time rota consists of a four-day working week together with participation in an every third Saturday morning rota. There are no Sunday, Bank Holiday or out-of-hours commitments, providing an excellent balance between professional and personal life.
Initially, the role includes shared sole charge responsibilities while continuing to build the growing caseload. You'll work closely alongside the practice owner, an additional Veterinary Surgeon, experienced nursing colleagues and visiting referral clinicians, while also benefiting from the ongoing support of the wider veterinary group.
The varied first opinion caseload includes consultations, diagnostics, surgery, preventative healthcare and case work-ups, allowing you to fully utilise and continue developing your clinical skills within a supportive environment.
Professional development is actively encouraged, with generous CPD funding and ongoing support available for Veterinary Surgeons wishing to pursue individual clinical interests or further qualifications.
The Candidate
The successful candidate will be an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon with at least two years' UK practice experience, strong communication skills and a genuine passion for delivering exceptional patient and client care.
You'll be confident with routine consultations and surgery, comfortable with periods of sole charge and enjoy working collaboratively as part of a supportive veterinary team. This role would particularly suit someone looking to become part of a growing independent practice where clinical freedom, teamwork and high standards of patient care are genuinely valued.
