The Practice

This busy, purpose-built small animal hospital delivers continuous 24-hour patient care and has built an excellent reputation for providing high standards of emergency and first opinion veterinary services. The practice benefits from a large and highly experienced multidisciplinary team, creating an outstanding clinical environment where collaboration, support and professional development are genuinely encouraged.

You’ll be joining an experienced team of 14 Veterinary Surgeons and 18 Veterinary Nurses, many of whom have developed advanced interests across medicine, soft tissue surgery and orthopaedics. With dedicated daytime and overnight teams providing continuous patient care, you’ll always have the support needed to deliver exceptional clinical standards.

The practice manages a varied emergency and hospital caseload while continually investing in advanced equipment and facilities to expand the services available to patients.

The Role

This permanent Out of Hours position follows an attractive 7 nights on, 14 nights off rota, providing an excellent work-life balance while allowing you to focus on emergency and critical care.

You’ll manage a varied emergency caseload including medical emergencies, trauma cases, complex diagnostics and emergency surgical procedures, working confidently as part of the dedicated overnight clinical team. The practice provides true 24-hour onsite care, ensuring excellent continuity for patients while maintaining strong collaboration between the day and night teams.

The hospital actively encourages further professional development, with generous CPD funding and certificate support available for Veterinary Surgeons wishing to expand their ECC or surgical expertise.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will be an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon with previous UK practice experience and confidence managing emergency cases independently.

You’ll be comfortable with sole charge, confident performing a range of emergency surgical procedures and possess strong diagnostic and medical skills. Excellent communication, flexibility and a genuine commitment to delivering exceptional patient and client care are essential, together with the ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative hospital team.
