An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a progressive and highly supportive small animal team across Ayrshire. This permanent position is open to both experienced RVNs and newly qualified nurses and offers a varied clinical caseload, flexible working options and the opportunity to develop within a team that genuinely values and invests in its nurses.

The Practice

This well-established small animal group operates across three modern practices in Ayrshire and is led by a partnership team that includes Veterinary Surgeons, an RVN and an experienced Practice Manager. This means every area of the practice has a genuine voice in how the business develops and how clinical care is delivered.

The wider team consists of approximately 60 colleagues, including:

• 14 Veterinary Surgeons.
• 14 Registered Veterinary Nurses.
• 3 GPD-trained Clinical Lead Veterinary Surgeons.
• 3 Clinical Coach RVNs.
• 4 senior nursing colleagues.
• 3 Clinical Nurse Managers.
• Dedicated RVN business support.

The nursing team includes colleagues with additional training and interests in acupuncture, pain management, behaviour and Schedule 3 surgical procedures. Nurses are encouraged to use their skills fully, contribute ideas and take an active role in patient care, client education and clinical development.

The Location

The role is based across the Ayrshire region, with opportunities to work within practices serving Irvine, Ayr, Kilmarnock and the surrounding areas.

The Role

This position offers a varied first opinion nursing caseload with the opportunity to work across consulting, theatre, inpatient care and diagnostics.

The successful RVN will be supported by an experienced nursing leadership team and will have access to colleagues across all three practices, ensuring clinical support is always available.

Typical responsibilities include:

• Nurse consultations and preventative healthcare clinics.
• Surgical nursing and anaesthetic monitoring.
• Inpatient nursing and patient care.
• Laboratory work and diagnostic support.
• Assisting Veterinary Surgeons during consultations and surgery.
• Supporting Schedule 3 procedures where appropriate.
• Monitoring and caring for hospitalised patients.
• Client education and preventative healthcare advice.
• Maintaining accurate clinical records.
• Delivering exceptional patient and client care.
• Working collaboratively across the wider clinical team.

This role would suit an experienced RVN looking for a fresh challenge or a newly qualified nurse seeking their first position within a structured and supportive environment.
