The Practice
This busy, recently refurbished 24-hour small animal hospital provides emergency and out-of-hours care for numerous surrounding veterinary practices, creating an interesting and varied caseload across medicine, surgery and emergency and critical care.
You’ll become part of a highly experienced multidisciplinary team including certificate holders in diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, dermatology and emergency and critical care, alongside clinicians currently undertaking advanced surgical and dental qualifications. The collaborative environment provides excellent opportunities for ongoing learning and professional development.

The Location
Located in the Dorchester area of Dorset, the hospital enjoys easy access to the spectacular Jurassic Coast, award-winning beaches and beautiful countryside. The area offers an excellent quality of life, combining coastal living with excellent transport links and a wide range of outdoor activities.
The Role
This is a permanent part-time Night Veterinary Surgeon position working an average of 9.5 hours per week.
The rota consists of two night shifts (Monday and Tuesday) every three weeks, working 6:45pm to 9:00am.
You’ll provide high-quality emergency and inpatient care overnight, working in sole charge while being fully supported by an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse. The hospital receives emergency referrals from multiple surrounding practices, ensuring a varied and rewarding ECC caseload.
This role is ideally suited to a Veterinary Surgeon who enjoys emergency work, thrives in an independent clinical setting and values working within a highly supportive hospital environment.
The Candidate
You will be an RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon with a minimum of three years’ UK small animal experience.
Previous emergency and critical care experience would be highly advantageous. You should be confident working independently in sole charge, capable of managing emergency consultations, medical cases and routine surgical procedures overnight, while maintaining exceptional standards of patient and client care.
