The Practice
This modern, purpose-built small animal practice has been providing high-quality veterinary care since 2014 and has built an excellent reputation for clinical standards, teamwork and client care. The practice is RCVS accredited and has also achieved ISFM Silver Cat Friendly and RWAF Silver Rabbit Friendly accreditation, demonstrating its commitment to delivering exceptional care across a wide range of species.
You’ll be joining an experienced and collaborative team of four Veterinary Surgeons, seven Registered Veterinary Nurses, four Client Care Advisors and a dedicated Practice Manager. As a recognised teaching practice, the team regularly supports Student Veterinary Nurses and Veterinary Students, creating an enjoyable learning environment where knowledge sharing and mentoring are encouraged.
The varied first opinion caseload provides an excellent mix of medicine and surgery, with strong clinical support available for more complex cases. Veterinary Surgeons with advanced qualifications are warmly welcomed, and enhanced salary packages are available to reflect additional expertise.

The Location
Located in the Sutton-in-Ashfield area of Nottinghamshire, the practice benefits from excellent access to Junction 28 of the M1, making commuting from Nottingham, Derby, Sheffield and surrounding areas straightforward. Surrounded by beautiful Nottinghamshire countryside, the area offers an excellent balance of town amenities, outdoor activities and convenient transport links.
The Role
This full-time position involves working 35-40 hours over four days with a fixed weekday off each week, allowing excellent consistency and work-life balance. Participation in a shared 1 in 4 Saturday rota is required, with no out-of-hours commitments and minimal sole charge.
You’ll manage a varied first opinion caseload across medicine and surgery while working alongside an experienced clinical team that actively encourages collaboration and case discussion. The practice is passionate about supporting Veterinary Surgeons to pursue certificates and develop their own clinical interests, with excellent CPD funding and ongoing mentorship available.
Veterinary Surgeons who enjoy mentoring students and working within a teaching environment will find this an especially rewarding opportunity.

The successful candidate will be an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon who is confident with routine consultations and surgery and enjoys managing a varied first opinion caseload.
