An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established first opinion practice in the Halesowen area. This is an excellent opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon looking to enjoy an outstanding work-life balance with a Monday to Friday working week and no weekend commitments. The Practice
This well-established standalone small animal practice has been serving the local community for over eight years and has built an excellent reputation for delivering exceptional clinical care and customer service. Led by highly experienced veterinary professionals, the practice has created a supportive and collaborative environment where colleagues are encouraged to develop their skills while maintaining an excellent work-life balance.
You’ll be joining an experienced clinical team supported by a highly skilled nursing department, Veterinary Care Assistant, dedicated Client Care Advisors and an experienced Practice Manager. The practice is committed to maintaining high clinical standards and is currently working towards Zero Pain Accreditation, continually striving to enhance patient care and welfare.
The practice sees a varied first opinion caseload, predominantly involving cats and dogs, together with occasional rabbits and small furries. A high proportion of insured clients allows clinicians to investigate and manage cases to an excellent standard, with the majority of work carried out in-house.

The Location
Located in the Halesowen area of the West Midlands, the practice enjoys excellent transport links to Birmingham, Dudley, Stourbridge and the wider Black Country. The Role
This position is ideal for a Veterinary Surgeon with at least two years’ experience who is looking to join a supportive practice where clinical freedom and professional development are genuinely encouraged.
The diary is carefully managed to allow clinicians the time needed to deliver exceptional patient care. Standard consultations are 15 minutes, with 30-minute appointments available where required. Catch-up slots are scheduled throughout the day alongside protected time for telephone calls and clinical administration, helping ensure colleagues leave on time.
Each Veterinary Surgeon benefits from at least one dedicated operating day every week, while flexible rotas include a regular weekday off and an early finish every third Friday. For candidates looking to take the next step in their career, there is an opportunity to progress into a Senior Veterinary Surgeon role, supporting and mentoring junior colleagues while helping maintain the practice’s high clinical standards.
The Candidate
The successful candidate will have at least two years’ experience within small animal practice and be confident managing both medical and surgical cases.
You’ll be a positive, proactive Veterinary Surgeon with excellent communication skills, a genuine passion for animal welfare and a collaborative approach to teamwork. Whether you’re looking to develop your surgical skills, pursue a certificate or take on additional leadership responsibilities, you’ll be fully supported in achieving your career goals.
An interest in pain management and contributing towards the practice’s Zero Pain Accreditation would be advantageous but is by no means essential.
