An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with at least three years' UK small animal GP experience to join a modern, purpose-built practice in Rotherham as a Deputy Head Veterinary Surgeon. This permanent full-time position offers the opportunity to combine a varied first opinion caseload with clinical leadership, supporting the Head Vet in driving clinical excellence, mentoring colleagues and helping shape the future success of the practice.
Key Highlights
• Salary £55,000 – £70,000 per annum depending on experience.

The Practice
This purpose-built small animal practice forms part of one of the UK's largest independent, family-owned veterinary groups and provides a spacious, modern working environment equipped with advanced technology to support exceptional patient care. The practice has a strong focus on collaboration, continuous learning and clinical excellence, creating an environment where both patients and colleagues thrive.
You'll be joining a talented multidisciplinary team with a wide range of clinical interests, including colleagues working towards postgraduate certificates, providing an excellent opportunity to continue developing your own skills while supporting others.

• 9 consultation rooms.
• 4 operating theatres.
• Dedicated dental suite.
• Ultrasound suite.
• 128-slice CT scanner.
• 2 dog wards.
• 2 cat wards.

The practice encourages a diagnostic-led approach to first opinion medicine and surgery, with excellent facilities allowing clinicians to fully investigate and manage a diverse caseload.
The Location
Located in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, the practice benefits from excellent transport links with easy access to Sheffield, Doncaster, Barnsley and the wider South Yorkshire region. The area offers an excellent balance of city amenities, green spaces and affordable living.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon looking to develop their leadership skills while remaining actively involved in clinical practice. Working closely with the Head Veterinary Surgeon, you'll help maintain high clinical standards, mentor colleagues and contribute to the continued development of the practice.
Working a 4-day week with a 1 in 4 weekend rota, your responsibilities will include:
• Providing high-quality first opinion consultations and surgical procedures.
• Delivering excellent medical and surgical patient care.
• Supporting the Head Veterinary Surgeon with clinical leadership and governance.
• Mentoring and coaching Veterinary Surgeons, including recent graduates.
• Promoting evidence-based clinical decision making and a diagnostic-led approach.
• Assisting with clinical audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Supporting the recruitment, induction and development of new Veterinary Surgeons.
• Encouraging collaboration across the veterinary and nursing teams.
• Maintaining exceptional clinical records and standards of client communication.
• Helping to drive the ongoing growth and success of the practice.
This role is ideal for a Veterinary Surgeon ready to step into leadership or an existing clinical leader looking for a fresh opportunity within a supportive and progressive practice.
About You
• MRCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon.
• Minimum of 3 years' UK small animal GP experience.
• Confident in both first opinion medicine and surgery.
