An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Deputy Head Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a modern, purpose-built small animal practice in Lincoln. This permanent full-time position offers the opportunity to combine hands-on clinical nursing with leadership responsibilities, supporting the Head Nurse in delivering exceptional patient care, maintaining high clinical standards and leading a dedicated nursing team.

You’ll be joining an experienced team of Veterinary Surgeons, Registered Veterinary Nurses, Student Veterinary Nurses and support colleagues who work closely together to provide outstanding patient care while maintaining a positive and supportive working environment.

Situated in the historic city of Lincoln, the practice enjoys excellent transport links and easy access to both the city centre and surrounding Lincolnshire countryside. The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse looking to progress into a leadership position while remaining actively involved in clinical nursing.
Working a 4-day week with 9-hour shifts, you’ll undertake a varied mix of theatre, inpatient, consulting and leadership duties, supporting the Head Nurse in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the nursing team and maintaining excellent clinical standards throughout the practice.
Typical responsibilities include:
• Supporting the Head Nurse with the day-to-day management of the nursing team.
• Delivering exceptional patient and client care.
• Nurse consultations and preventative healthcare clinics.
• Surgical nursing and anaesthetic monitoring.
• Inpatient nursing and patient care.
• Coaching and supporting Registered Veterinary Nurses, Student Veterinary Nurses and Veterinary Care Assistants.
• Assisting with clinical governance and maintaining high standards of patient care.
• Supporting stock control and clinical equipment management.
• Helping to ensure efficient daily workflow across the practice.
• Promoting continuous improvement and clinical best practice throughout the nursing team.

About You
• RCVS Registered Veterinary Nurse.
• Previous experience working within a busy small animal practice.
• Confident across all aspects of first opinion veterinary nursing.
• Previous mentoring or leadership experience would be advantageous.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• A positive, proactive and supportive team player.
• Passionate about delivering outstanding patient and client care.
