The Opportunity
We are recruiting an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join a busy and well-established practice in Merthyr Tydfil.
This role would suit a vet who enjoys a balance of surgery and medicine and is confident managing a varied caseload. You will work closely with an experienced Branch Partner alongside a dedicated team of veterinary surgeons and nurses in a collaborative and supportive clinical environment.
The practice sees a high volume of first opinion and emergency cases, offering excellent exposure and clinical variety.
The Practice
The clinic operates from a spacious, well-equipped building with:
• Three consulting rooms.
• Dedicated operating theatre.
• Imaging suite.
• Access to external ultrasound scanning support when required.
Located in Merthyr Tydfil, the practice benefits from strong community engagement and excellent access to the Brecon Beacons National Park. The area offers an ideal balance of outdoor lifestyle and convenient links to Cardiff and the M4 corridor.
The Role
This is a full-time position working 40 hours across four days per week, with 1 in 4 Saturdays.
Part-time applications will also be considered.
You will:
• Deliver exceptional clinical care in both consults and surgery.
• Develop tailored treatment plans and provide clear client communication.
• Work collaboratively within a supportive clinical team.
• Maintain high regulatory, clinical and operational standards.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the practice.
Candidate Profile
• MRCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon.
• Confident in both surgical and medical case management.
• Comfortable working in a busy first opinion setting.
• Strong communication and client care skills.
• Team-focused with a proactive approach.
