An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced hospital Registered Veterinary Nurse with a strong interest in theatre work to step into a Senior Theatre RVN role on a 12-month maternity cover basis. This position offers leadership responsibility within a busy hospital environment, supporting multiple theatres and a diverse surgical caseload.

The Practice

This busy hospital site manages both first-opinion and internal referral surgical cases from surrounding branches, offering a wide variety of advanced orthopaedic, soft tissue and minimally invasive procedures.

Facilities include CT imaging, commercial laboratory services and strong medical and surgical teams. The hospital benefits from a large multidisciplinary team, including veterinary surgeons, RVNs, SVNs, VCAs and a dedicated front-of-house support team. An established management structure provides additional support, including senior nurses and hospital leadership.

The location offers excellent transport links into Central London.

The Role

This senior theatre-focused position is ideal for an experienced RVN who thrives in a surgical environment and is ready to take responsibility for ensuring theatres operate efficiently and to the highest standards.

Key responsibilities include:

• Overseeing the daily organisation of theatre lists.

• GA sheet and pre-GA checklist audits.

• Providing GA troubleshooting and training.

• Maintaining surgical kits and theatre equipment.

• Stock management for surgical areas.

• Delivering in-house CPD and contributing to leadership meetings.

• Supporting scope maintenance and endoscopy training.

• Assisting in covering senior nursing duties when required.

While prior senior experience is desirable, a confident and experienced RVN with a strong passion for theatre work and leadership development will also be considered.

• RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse.

• Experienced within a hospital or theatre setting.

• Confident with anaesthesia and advanced surgical procedures.

• Organised, proactive and leadership-focused.

• Keen to develop further within a senior clinical role.
