• Role: Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon.

• Contract: Permanent.

• Location: North Devon.

• Hours: 4-day working week (flexible options considered).

• Out-of-hours: Shared rota (1 weekend in 8).

• Salary: Up to £60,000, commensurate with experience.

The Practice

This growing small animal team operates across multiple well-equipped sites, offering a varied caseload and strong clinical support. Facilities include operating theatres, dental suites, in-house laboratory equipment, ultrasound, digital radiography, endoscopy and laparoscopic equipment, with CT installation currently in progress.

The team includes advanced practitioners and certificate holders across a wide range of disciplines including anaesthesia, medicine, exotics, ophthalmology and behaviour, with additional certificates underway. Visiting clinicians and an experienced nursing team further enhance the clinical offering.

The practice also supports veterinary student training rotations and has built a strong reputation for teaching and mentoring within a stable, cohesive team environment.

The Role

This position would suit a committed and collaborative Veterinary Surgeon who values teamwork and excellent client communication. The role offers a balance of consultations and surgery within a supportive environment where general practice skills are celebrated and further development is encouraged.

Out of Hours

The practice runs its own shared out-of-hours service with:

• 1 weekend in 8, with the following Monday off.

• 1 in 8 Saturdays (expected to reduce with team expansion).

• Weekend work centralised at the hospital site (08:30–17:00).

• Maximum of 4 nights on-call in every 4 weeks.

• Full RVN and vet support for inpatient care.

About You

• RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon.

• Confident in small animal general practice.

• Team-focused and collaborative.

• Strong communication and client care skills.

• Keen to continue developing professionally.
