This is a full-time, 15-month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave, offering a varied leadership role within a supportive, hospital-based environment.

The Practice
This small animal practice operates from a central hospital site with several supporting branches across South Wales. The hospital is purpose built and well equipped, offering a broad and interesting caseload with strong nursing utilisation across medical and surgical cases.
The practice is committed to high clinical and welfare standards, holds recognised cat-friendly accreditation and hospital status, and operates as a nurse training practice. The team includes experienced nurses and veterinary surgeons with a range of clinical interests and certificate holders.
There are no imposed commercial targets, and the culture is centred around teamwork, inclusion, wellbeing and professional growth.
The Role
This role is ideal for an experienced RVN with strong leadership skills who enjoys supporting and developing others. You will work closely with the veterinary and practice management teams and play a key role in the day-to-day running of the nursing department.
You will lead and support the nursing team alongside other senior nurses, while remaining clinically hands-on to maintain skills and develop personal interests.
Key Responsibilities

Lead, mentor and support the nursing team.

Oversee daily nursing operations and maintain high clinical standards.

Remain actively involved in clinical nursing duties.

Ensure compliance with RCVS standards and practice policies.

Support nurse training and student development.

Conduct performance reviews, probation reviews and 1-to-1s.

Maintain excellent patient care and client communication.

Support stock control, equipment maintenance and clinical audits.

Assist with rota management and conflict resolution.
-
Promote a positive, supportive and collaborative team culture.
About You

RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse.

Previous experience in a senior or leadership nursing role.

Confident mentoring, supporting and developing team members.

Strong organisational and communication skills.

Passionate about clinical excellence, teamwork and wellbeing.
