Independent – Veterinary Surgeon – Windsor, Berkshire

An excellent opportunity for a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established, independently owned veterinary practice in Windsor, Berkshire. This role offers genuine clinical autonomy, continuity of care and a supportive, experienced team across a busy hospital and two local branch practices.

Key Details

Role: Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon.
Location: Windsor, Berkshire, with branch cover in Ascot and Egham.
Contract: Permanent.
Hours: Four days per week.
Weekend Rota: 1 in 5 weekends.
Out of Hours: No overnight OOH.
Experience Level: Ideally 1 year UK experience, but flexibility for the right candidate.

The Practice

This is a rare opportunity to join a genuinely independent veterinary practice with a long-standing reputation for high clinical standards and excellent client relationships.

The practice operates from a busy small animal hospital in Windsor, supported by two established branch surgeries in Ascot and Egham. Independence allows the team to prioritise patient care, sensible appointment lengths and professional judgement without corporate KPIs or time pressure.

The practice is well equipped, well staffed and known locally for its friendly, professional culture and strong retention.

The Role

This is a broad first-opinion GP role, offering a balanced caseload and excellent continuity.

• Routine consultations and preventative care.

• First-opinion medical case work and diagnostics.

• General soft tissue surgery.

• Case follow-up and continuity with clients.

• Working across hospital and branch sites on a structured rota.

• Collaborative working with experienced vets and RVNs.

The rota is designed to protect work–life balance, including a four-day week and a reduced three-day week following a worked weekend, with Monday and Friday off.

What We're Looking For

• RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon.

• Confident GP vet comfortable with routine medicine and surgery.

• Ideally at least 1 year UK small animal experience.

• Strong communication and client-care skills.

• Team-focused approach with a professional mindset.

Vets at different career stages will be considered, with salary and support tailored accordingly.

Based in Windsor, Berkshire, the practice benefits from excellent transport links, attractive surroundings and easy access to London. The area offers historic character, green spaces and a high quality of life, making it ideal for commuting or settling locally.
