The Opportunity
This is a rare and confidential opportunity for an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to step into genuine practice ownership in Cowbridge, Vale of Glamorgan, while retaining full clinical autonomy and avoiding the financial risk and administrative burden traditionally associated with owning a veterinary practice outright. You will become a co-owner of a well-established, community-focused clinic, sharing in monthly profits while building real, tangible equity over time. A clear, pre-defined exit structure allows you to realise that value in the future, providing long-term financial security and planning confidence. This is not a franchise and not a salaried lead role. It is a true partnership model designed for vets who want autonomy, influence and long-term wealth creation while remaining hands-on clinically.
The Practice & Location
This is a busy, well-established small animal practice located in the heart of Cowbridge, a historic and highly desirable market town in the Vale of Glamorgan. The area is known for its independent shops, cafés and restaurants, strong community feel and excellent quality of life. The coast, countryside and Cardiff city centre are all within easy reach, offering an excellent balance of relaxed living and city access.
The practice itself offers:
-
A varied first-opinion small animal caseload
-
Two operating theatres supporting a wide range of procedures
-
Imaging facilities including dental x-ray and laser equipment
-
A loyal and long-standing client base
-
A stable, well-run setup with clear potential for continued development
This is a clinic that is ready for a confident leader to come in and make it their own.
Team & Culture
-
Established veterinary, nursing and support team in place
-
Supportive, collaborative working environment with strong community ties
-
Culture built around high clinical standards, continuity of care and client relationships
-
The ideal candidate will bring:
-
Strong clinical and medical standards
-
Leadership ambition and confidence
-
A positive, approachable manner
-
A team-player mindset
-
Passion for patient and client care
-
Personality and cultural fit are as important as clinical experience for this role.
Guaranteed Earnings & Financial Support (Early Years)
To support your transition into ownership, the partnership includes:
-
Guaranteed earnings during the initial 1–3 year transition period (structure discussed in detail at interview stage)
-
Ongoing Branch Partner drawings and monthly profit share thereafter
-
A structure designed to provide financial security while equity value builds
How the Branch Partnership Model Works
-
True co-ownership of an established veterinary practice
-
Typical equity stake of circa 40%, depending on valuation and structure
-
Minimum 10% personal investment upfront
-
Up to 30% funding support available, provided as a loan if required (subject to approval)
-
Monthly profit share aligned to equity percentage
-
Equity value increases year on year as the practice develops
-
Structured exit opportunities every two years, with equity sold back at a pre-agreed multiple
This model allows you to build wealth alongside your clinical career rather than waiting for a distant exit.
Clinical Autonomy & Leadership
You will:
-
Retain full clinical autonomy within the practice
-
Lead the clinic day-to-day while remaining hands-on clinically
-
Mentor and develop the veterinary and nursing team
-
Shape clinical standards, service offerings and team culture
-
Play an active role in the long-term development of the practice
This role is ideal for vets who want to lead without stepping away from clinical work.
Business & Operational Support
No prior commercial or ownership experience is required. Comprehensive support is provided across:
-
Finance, forecasting and performance reporting
-
HR, payroll and compliance
