• Role: Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon (Consulting Focus).

• Contract: Permanent.

• Location: Burnley, Lancashire.

• Hours: Full time, with part-time and flexible working considered.

The Role

This role is based primarily at a busy first-opinion branch practice, with a strong focus on consultations and case continuity. It is ideally suited to a vet who enjoys building client relationships and working cases up to a high standard.

The position is consulting-only by default, although there is flexibility to include routine procedures if desired, allowing you to maintain or develop surgical skills at your own pace.

Out-of-hours care is fully covered by a dedicated internal service, meaning no OOH commitments for this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality first-opinion consultations.

• Diagnose, manage and follow through medical cases.

• Build strong, long-term client relationships.

• Work collaboratively with RVNs and support colleagues.

• Maintain accurate and thorough clinical records.

Facilities & Clinical Support

You will have access to excellent facilities across the wider practice, including:

• Digital X-ray and ultrasound.

• Endoscopy.

• In-house laboratory.

• Dental suite with dental X-ray.

• Multiple operating theatres.

• Separate canine and feline wards.

Branch facilities include consulting rooms, surgical theatre, kennel ward and in-house lab support.

What We're Looking For

• RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon.

• Completed VetGDP or equivalent experience.

• Confident in routine consultations and clinical decision-making.

• Strong communication and client care skills.

• Enthusiastic about CPD and working within a supportive team.

Salary & Benefits

• Salary £45,000 – £65,000 per annum, depending on experience.
