Registered Veterinary Nurse East Sussex (Brighton Area)

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a 24-hour small animal hospital in East Sussex (Brighton area) on a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover contract, starting June 2026. This role is ideal for an RVN who enjoys hospital-based nursing, varied caseloads and advanced clinical exposure, while benefiting from a Monday–Friday rota with no weekends or on-call.

The Hospital

This is a purpose-built 24-hour small animal hospital supporting both internal branch referrals and local external practices across East Sussex. The hospital provides a high standard of inpatient, emergency and advanced medical care within a well-structured and supportive clinical environment.

Facilities include a fully equipped in-house laboratory, advanced diagnostic imaging, and dedicated wards for cats, dogs, exotics, isolation and day procedures. A full out-of-hours team operates alongside the day team, ensuring continuity of care and excellent patient outcomes.

The wider clinical team includes multiple certificate holders across a range of disciplines, offering exposure to advanced medicine, imaging, orthopaedics, ophthalmology and exotics.

The Role

This is a hospital-based RVN role with a varied and rewarding caseload, including emergency admissions and advanced medical cases referred internally and externally.

You will be involved in:

• Nursing hospitalised medical and surgical patients
• Supporting emergency and advanced referral cases
• Working across dedicated wards and procedural areas
• Maintaining high standards of inpatient care and monitoring
• Supporting clinical workflows within a busy hospital environment
• Working collaboratively with vets, nurses and support teams

• RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse
• Previous experience in a hospital or referral setting
• Confident managing medical and surgical nursing cases
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
• Calm, adaptable and able to prioritise in a fast-paced environment
• Committed to continued professional development
