An exciting opportunity to join a well-established 24-hour Small Animal Hospital and Emergency Services clinic in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. This role is ideal for Veterinary Surgeons looking to expand their clinical knowledge in a hospital environment while being supported by a large, experienced and highly skilled multidisciplinary team.

This is a progressive hospital setting offering exposure to both first-opinion and referral-level cases, with access to advanced diagnostics, varied clinical services and genuine flexibility around working patterns.

• Setting: 24/7 Small Animal Hospital & Emergency Services

• Hours: Flexible – full time, part time or weekend-only considered

• Weekend Rota: Required (options include 1:2, 1:4 or weekend-only)

• Contract: Permanent

  • Stem cell therapy

  • Chemotherapy

  • Endoscopy

  • Emergency & critical care

  • Routine first-opinion work

The Role

• Deliver high standards of small animal veterinary care

• Manage routine medical and surgical cases

• Work up cases to a high clinical standard

• Participate in emergency and hospital caseloads as appropriate

• Collaborate closely with a large multidisciplinary clinical team

• Maintain accurate clinical records and uphold clinical governance

• Contribute positively to hospital culture and patient outcomes

  • 15 Veterinary Surgeons (including dedicated OOH vets)

  • 24 Registered Veterinary Nurses

  • Student Veterinary Nurses and Animal Care Assistants

  • Strong non-clinical support team

What We're Looking For

• RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon

• Comfortable with routine medical and surgical cases

• Interest in hospital medicine, ECC or advanced diagnostics welcomed

• Enthusiastic about managing a varied and complex caseload

• Strong team player with a commitment to high standards of care

• Open to vets at all stages of their career, including new graduates

Working Patterns

• Flexible rotas available

• Full time, part time and weekend-only roles considered

• Weekend participation required:

  • 1 in 2 (full time)

  • 1 in 4 (part time)

  • Weekend-only options available

Must Haves
