Veterinary Surgeon | South Woodford, East London (E18)

A great opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon seeking a part-time role within an established first opinion GP practice in South Woodford. This position would suit a confident GP vet looking for consistency, strong clinical support and a balanced working week.

Part Time | 2 Days Per Week | Permanent

Key Details

• Role: Veterinary Surgeon

• Location: South Woodford, East London (E18)

• Hours: Part time – 2 days per week

• Sole Charge: 1 day per week

• Weekend Rota: 1 in 4 branch Saturdays and 1 in 16 hospital Sundays

• Bank Holidays: Up to 2 per year

• OOH: Included in last-resort on-call and twilight rota once settled

• Contract: Permanent

The Practice Environment

• Established first opinion GP practice in a leafy East London suburb

• Well-supported by a highly experienced senior vet on crossover days

• 24-hour hospital support available for complex referrals and out-of-hours care

The Role

• Part-time GP role providing additional clinical support to the practice

• Two-day weekly rota with one sole charge day

• Mix of consultations, routine GP work and case management

• Hospital induction day included as part of onboarding

• Opportunity to develop confidence in both branch and hospital-supported working

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Carry out consultations and clinical examinations

• Manage routine GP cases and minor procedures

• Work independently on sole charge days with senior support available

• Prescribe and dispense medications in line with legislation and RCVS guidance

• Maintain accurate and thorough clinical records

• Triage and refer cases appropriately to hospital facilities

• Work collaboratively with nursing colleagues and senior clinicians

• Maintain high clinical and professional standards

• Located in South Woodford, East London

• Approximately 8-minute walk to Central Line Underground station

• Close to a busy high street with restaurants and amenities

• Short drive to Epping Forest for access to green space and countryside

Salary & Benefits

• £45,000 to £61,000 FTE depending on experience

• 6.6 weeks annual leave including bank holidays (pro rata)

• CPD allowance up to £2,000 per year plus up to 5 paid CPD days (pro rata)

Must Haves

• RCVS Registered (or soon to be)
• Possess the right to work in the United Kingdom
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
