Senior Veterinary Surgeon | Croydon, Surrey

An excellent opportunity for a confident Veterinary Surgeon to step into a senior, sole-charge GP role within a well-established first-opinion practice in Croydon, Surrey. This position is ideal for an experienced vet looking for clinical autonomy, leadership responsibility and the opportunity to shape and support a branch team, while benefiting from strong regional and hospital-level support.

Full Time | £64,000 – £85,000 FTE | Permanent

Key Details

• Role: Senior Veterinary Surgeon (Sole Charge)

• Location: Croydon, Surrey

• Hours: Full time

• Working Pattern: Tuesday to Friday

• Weekend Rota: Branch Saturdays plus 1 in 10 hospital Sundays

• Bank Holidays: 1 per year

• Out of Hours: None

• Contract: Permanent

• Supported by experienced RVNs, student nurses and front-of-house team

• Strong team culture with excellent morale and stability

• Backed by a nearby 24-hour hospital for complex referrals and OOH care

• Dedicated regional management and clinical leadership support

• Accommodation available at a nearby branch if required

The Role

• Senior, sole-charge GP veterinary role

• Full responsibility for day-to-day clinical delivery within the branch

• Supporting and mentoring an additional vet working across two nearby sites

• Routine consultations and first-opinion surgery

• Triage and referral of complex cases when required

• Maintaining accurate, thorough clinical records

• Ensuring high clinical and operational standards are maintained

Senior leadership responsibilities include:

• Overseeing prescription administration in line with policy

• Managing consulting, surgical and diagnostic diaries

• Leading site-level inductions for new starters and locums

• Ensuring regular branch meetings are held and actions completed

• Promoting a respectful, collaborative team environment

Leadership training is provided to support the transition into a senior role.

What We're Looking For

• RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon

• Confident GP vet comfortable with sole-charge work

• Proven experience in routine surgery and first-opinion practice

• Strong leadership, organisation and communication skills

• Enjoys mentoring and supporting colleagues

• Looking for a senior role with autonomy and long-term stability

Salary & Benefits

• Salary £64,000 – £85,000 FTE per annum (DOE)

Must Haves
