Veterinary Surgeon | Highbury, North London

An excellent opportunity for a confident Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established first-opinion GP practice in Highbury, North London. This role is ideally suited to a sole-charge vet who enjoys building long-term client relationships, working within a close-knit community and delivering high-quality first-opinion care within a consult-focused environment.

Full or Part-Time | £60,000 – £75,000 FTE | Permanent

Key Details

• Role: Veterinary Surgeon (Sole Charge)

• Location: Highbury, North London

• Hours: Full time or part time considered

• Working Pattern: 4-day week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday)

• Weekend Rota: 1 in 4 branch Saturdays, 1 in 8 hospital Sundays

• Bank Holidays: Up to 2 per year

• On-call: Included (last-resort rota only)

• Contract: Permanent

The Practice

• Long-established first-opinion GP practice with a loyal client base

• Strong community presence with excellent client relationships

• Consult-focused diary with minor surgical procedures

• Supported by nearby larger practices and a 24-hour hospital for complex cases and OOH care

• Well-structured systems and clinical protocols in place

• Experienced regional management and clinical leadership support

The Role

• Sole-charge GP veterinary role within a community-focused branch

• First-opinion consultations and minor surgery

• Triage and initial management of emergency cases when required

• Maintaining accurate and thorough clinical records

• Prescribing and dispensing medications in line with legislation and RCVS guidance

• Timely referral of complex cases to supporting hospital facilities

• Working closely with RVNs to support branch operations and SOPs

• Overseeing consulting and diagnostic diaries

• RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon

• Confident working in a sole-charge environment

• Strong first-opinion consultation skills

• Comfortable with routine surgery

• Excellent communication and client relationship skills

• Looking for a long-term, community-based role

Salary & Benefits

• Salary £60,000 – £75,000 FTE per annum (DOE)

• 6.6 weeks annual leave including bank holidays

Must Haves

• RCVS Registered (or soon to be)
• Possess the right to work in the United Kingdom
