Veterinary Surgeon | West Ham, East London

An excellent opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon to join a busy, well-run first-opinion small animal practice in West Ham, East London. This full-time role is ideal for a GP vet who enjoys a fast-paced environment, values strong mentorship and wants exposure to hospital-level support and ECC while remaining primarily branch based.

Full Time | £45,000 – £61,000 FTE | Permanent

Key Details

• Role: Veterinary Surgeon

• Location: West Ham, East London

• Hours: Full time (30–40 hours per week options available)

• Weekend Rota: 1 in 4 branch Saturdays, 1 in 8 hospital Sundays

• Bank Holidays: Up to 2 per year

• On-call: Included (last-resort and twilight rota)

• Contract: Permanent

The Practice

• Busy first-opinion small animal GP practice

• Located in a vibrant area of East London

• Supported by an experienced senior vet and senior RVN

• Strong team of trainee nurses and support staff

• Backed by a nearby 24-hour veterinary hospital for complex cases and OOH care

• Structured induction including a hospital induction day

The Role

• GP veterinary role within a busy branch setting

• Routine consultations and first-opinion surgery including dentals

• Managing cases in line with best-practice and evidence-based medicine

• Maintaining accurate and thorough clinical records

• Timely referral of complex cases to a supporting hospital

• Supporting a positive, respectful and collaborative team environment

• Opportunity to develop ECC skills during hospital Sunday shifts

What We're Looking For

• RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon

• Comfortable working in a busy GP environment

• Confident with routine surgery and dentals

• Keen to learn and develop with senior support

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

Location Highlights

• Based in West Ham, East London

• Positioned between West Ham Park and Stratford

• Approximately 8-minute walk to DLR and train links

• Excellent transport connections across London and into Essex

Salary & Benefits

• Salary £45,000 – £61,000 per annum (FTE, inclusive of weekend rota, DOE)

• 6.6 weeks annual leave including bank holidays

• Generous CPD support with up to £2,000 allowance per year

• Up to 5 days' paid CPD leave

Must Haves

• RCVS Registered (or soon to be)
• Possess the right to work in the United Kingdom
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
