Senior Veterinary Surgeon | Hackney, East London

A rare opportunity for an experienced Senior Veterinary Surgeon to step into a leadership role within a busy, well-established first-opinion practice in the heart of Hackney. This role offers genuine autonomy, clinical influence and the chance to shape the future direction of a high-performing practice.

Full Time | £64,000 – £85,000 FTE | 4-Day Week | Permanent

Key Details

• Role: Senior Veterinary Surgeon

• Location: Hackney, East London

• Hours: Average 41 hours per week

• Working Pattern: 4-day week

• Weekend Rota:

  • 1 in 4 branch Saturdays

  • 1 in 8 hospital Sundays

• Bank Holidays: Up to 2 per year

• Additional: Approx. 6 short twilight shifts per year

The Practice

• One of the busiest and most established practices in the area

• Functions as a "mini hub”, supporting a nearby consult and minor ops clinic

• Recently invested in new ultrasound facilities

• Ongoing investment into clinical equipment with scope for senior input

• Facilities include:

  • Two consulting rooms

  • Large prep and theatre area

  • Separate cat and dog wards

  • Well-equipped in-house laboratory

• Excellent emergency and referral support via a nearby 24-hour hospital

The Role

• Senior clinical leadership role combining consultations, surgery and team support

• Hands-on involvement in a varied and fast-paced caseload

• Working closely with the Senior RVN on:

  • Day-to-day practice management

  • Diary flow and efficiency

  • Clinical governance

  • Team engagement and morale

• Opportunity to influence equipment investment and clinical direction

• Supported by experienced regional management and senior clinical leadership

What We're Looking For

• RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon

• Proven experience in a senior or leadership role

• Confident in a fast-paced GP environment

• Strong surgical and consulting skills

• Natural leader with excellent communication skills

• Enjoys mentoring, supporting and motivating a team

Salary & Benefits

• Salary: £64,000 – £85,000 FTE (based on 40 hours, DOE)

• 6.6 weeks annual leave including bank holidays (pro rata)

• Up to £2,000 CPD budget per year

• Up to 5 days' paid CPD leave (pro rata)

Must Haves

• RCVS Registered (or soon to be)
• Possess the right to work in the United Kingdom
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
