The Organisation
This role sits within a well-established multi-site veterinary group operating a Tier 3 hospital alongside an in-house out-of-hours service and a certificate-led, multidisciplinary referral team. The practice is values-led, focusing on gold-standard patient care, excellent client communication and creating a positive, supportive working environment for colleagues.

With seven branches feeding into the hospital, the caseload is busy, interesting and clinically rewarding, supported by advanced diagnostics and experienced teams across the group.

The Role
You will be based within the veterinary hospital, primarily caring for inpatients and managing complex medical and surgical cases. This role includes periods of sole charge, so prior experience in a hospital or similar environment is required.

The rota offers variety and flexibility, including:

• Average 40-hour working week

• 1 in 4 weekends

• A mixture of weekday, weekend and night shifts

• Some sole charge responsibilities

• Part-time applications welcomed, with flexibility around the rota

The position provides excellent exposure to advanced diagnostics and referral-level care, supporting ongoing clinical development while ensuring sufficient downtime to maintain a healthy work–life balance.

What We're Looking For

• RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon

• Previous experience in a hospital or sole charge setting

• Confident managing inpatients and complex cases

• Comfortable working some OOH and night shifts

• Strong communication and decision-making skills

• Team-focused with a commitment to high clinical standards

Facilities & Clinical Support
You will have access to an exceptional range of equipment and in-house expertise, including:

• CT scanner

• Doppler echocardiography

• Flexible and rigid endoscopy

• Direct digital radiography

• Ultrasound scanners

• Dental radiography

• Electrocautery and laparoscopy

• Advanced anaesthesia and monitoring equipment

• Support from certificate holders and referral clinicians
