The Practice
This long-established mixed veterinary practice has been serving the local community for over 35 years and is known for its loyal client base and genuinely supportive team culture. The practice operates across two sites, with large animal work based in Johnstown and small animal services in Thurles.
The team is friendly and close-knit, made up of experienced vets, nurses, support staff and management, creating an environment where vets are well supported and encouraged to develop.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a Mixed Animal Veterinary Surgeon looking for genuine variety. The role includes routine and emergency large animal farm work such as TB testing, mastitis and parasitology visits, alongside small animal consulting and surgery.
The position offers a balanced and interesting workload, ideal for someone who enjoys both farm and companion animal work. While prior experience is preferred, newly graduated vets will be considered thanks to a strong support and mentoring structure within the team.
The rota includes 1–2 nights on call per week, with a shared weekend rota that becomes lighter outside the main farming season.

The practice is well located, around 2 hours from Dublin and 1 hour from Cork, with excellent transport links including regular train services. The local area offers a great lifestyle with strong sporting communities, cultural activities and easy access to countryside and amenities.

Must Haves
