An excellent opportunity for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join a large, well-equipped 24-hour small animal hospital in the Basildon area, offering advanced clinical exposure, a strong multi-disciplinary team and a genuinely supportive working environment.

• OOH: None (minimal on-call only, approx. 3–4 times per year)

The Area:

Basildon is a well-connected town in Essex, offering direct rail links into Central London in around 30 minutes, along with easy access to Southend, Stansted Airport and the Essex coastline. The area provides an excellent balance of urban convenience, coastal living and countryside nearby.

The Role:

You will be joining a progressive, RCVS-accredited 24-hour small animal hospital delivering both first-opinion and referral-level care. This role is ideal for an experienced all-round Veterinary Surgeon who enjoys working in a busy, collaborative hospital environment with access to advanced diagnostics, specialist support and a varied caseload.

The position offers an excellent work-life balance with a 4-day working week and no routine out-of-hours duties. You will be supported by a large, experienced clinical team including certificate holders across surgery, medicine, cardiology, orthopaedics, exotics and imaging.

Part-time applications are welcomed, provided you are able to participate in the 1 in 4 weekend rota.

• 24-hour RCVS-accredited small animal hospital

• CT and MRI imaging

• Advanced surgical and medical case exposure

• Emergency and critical care services

• Orthopaedics, ophthalmology and rehabilitation services

• Hydrotherapy, physiotherapy and laser therapy

• Gold-standard inpatient care

What We're Looking For:

• RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon

• Experience working in UK small animal practice

• Confident all-round GP skill set

• Interest in hospital-based medicine or ECC advantageous

• Strong communication and client care skills

• Team-oriented, proactive approach

• Commitment to clinical excellence and development
