Head Veterinary Surgeon | Alsager, Cheshire

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to step into a Head Vet position within a well-established standalone small animal practice based in the market town of Alsager, Cheshire. This role offers genuine clinical freedom, flexible full-time or part-time working options, and the opportunity to lead and develop a supportive veterinary team while maintaining outstanding clinical standards and work–life balance.

Full or Part Time Considered | Up to £75,000 DOE | Permanent | 4-Day Week Available | 1 in 4 Saturday Mornings | No Sundays or OOH

Key Details:

• Role: Head Veterinary Surgeon

• Hours: Flexible full-time or part-time considered

• Working Pattern: Typically 4 days per week

• Weekends: 1 in 4 Saturday mornings (9am–12pm)

• Salary: Up to £75,000 DOE (FTE)

• Contract: Permanent

The Role:

• Lead and mentor a small, supportive veterinary team

• Maintain and develop high clinical and welfare standards

• Deliver a varied small animal medical and surgical caseload

• Work closely with the practice owner with real input into decisions

• Support junior vets and contribute to ongoing practice development

What We're Looking For:

• RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon

• Strong experience in small animal medicine and surgery

• Confident mentoring and supporting less experienced vets

• Comfortable in a leadership or senior clinical role

• Excellent communication and team-working skills

• Proactive approach to clinical standards and CPD
