Head Veterinary Nurse Friern Barnet, North London

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse or an existing Head RVN to join a well-established small animal practice in the Friern Barnet area of North London. This role offers the chance to step into a senior nursing position within a supportive, progressive team environment, with genuine scope to lead, mentor, and shape nursing standards while maintaining a healthy work–life balance.

Full Time | Up to £40,000 Pro Rata | Permanent | 40 Hours | 1 in 3 Saturdays | No Sundays or OOH

Key Details:

• Role: Registered Veterinary Nurse / Head RVN

• Hours: 40 hours per week

• Working Pattern: Full time with flexible rota options

• Weekends: 1 in 3 Saturdays (time off in lieu)

• Salary: Up to £40,000 Pro Rata

• Contract: Permanent

The Area:

• Friern Barnet is a well-connected area of North London

• Excellent transport links via nearby Underground and Overground stations

• Easy access to major road networks including the A406, M25 and M1

• A popular residential area offering a mix of city convenience and green spaces

The Role:

• Lead and support the nursing team, setting high clinical and professional standards

• Act as a mentor and role model for Student Veterinary Nurses

• Run nurse-led clinics including obesity, diabetic and behavioural consultations

• Carry out Schedule 3 procedures including dental scale and polish

• Support daily clinical operations including vaccinations and post-operative checks

• Work closely with the senior clinical and management team to support ongoing practice development

What We're Looking For:

• RCVS registered Veterinary Nurse

• Experienced RVN or existing Head RVN

• Confident communicator with a positive, lead-by-example approach

• Interest in clinical coaching (training supported if required)

• Strong organisational and team leadership skills

• Commitment to high standards of patient and client care
