The Role:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Head Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a supportive small animal practice in Hertfordshire. This is a fantastic opportunity for a nurse looking to step into a leadership role while still enjoying a hands-on clinical position.

As Head Nurse, you'll lead the day-to-day running of the nursing team, inspire and mentor colleagues, oversee workflow, and contribute to the ongoing development of the practice. You'll also be directly involved in all aspects of nursing, from anaesthesia and inpatient care to nurse clinics and diagnostics.

About the Practice:
The practice is purpose-built with separate dog and cat wards, an isolation unit, and a wide range of modern facilities. Appointments are structured at 30 minutes for non-routine cases and 15 minutes for vaccinations, ensuring time to deliver excellent client and patient care.

The caseload is varied, with visiting specialists providing advanced procedures such as cardiac scans, abdominal ultrasound with sampling, and orthopaedics. Nurses are fully involved across all areas of practice, offering variety and scope to use your full skillset.

The Team:
You'll be joining a small, friendly and supportive team of Vets, RVNs, VCAs and reception staff. The practice places strong emphasis on teamwork, learning, and development, ensuring a positive and collaborative culture.

• Ultrasound

• Digital X-ray

• In-house laboratory with microscope

• Capnography and pulse oximetry

• Dedicated sterile theatre

• Separate dog, cat and isolation wards

• Visiting specialists for advanced imaging and orthopaedics

The Area:
Located in Hertfordshire, the practice is easily accessible from surrounding towns including Ware, Hertford and Harlow, with good road and rail connections into London and Cambridge. The area offers a balance of market-town character and modern amenities, with plenty of countryside close by.
