We are recruiting for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join the night team at a busy 24-hour hospital in Wanstead, East London. This is a 12-month fixed term maternity cover position, ideal for either an RVN keen to try night work for the first time or a locum night nurse seeking stability in a permanent contract. About the role
This fixed term contract follows a rota of 4 nights on, 8 nights off (7.30pm–8.30am), with an additional 18 shifts per year, averaging 35 hours per week.

You will be working alongside a permanent night RVN, a student or VCA, and a permanent night vet, ensuring you always have support during busy periods.

Key responsibilities include:

• Conducting ward rounds

• Taking overnight calls and triaging emergencies

• Assisting in emergency surgery

• Completing essential night duties (including laundry and hospital upkeep)

About you

• Registered Veterinary Nurse with strong clinical experience

• Confident in inpatient care, triaging, and emergency support

• Flexible and organised with a calm approach during night shifts

• Positive, proactive, and motivated to deliver high standards of patient care

• Keen to work in a hospital environment with diverse cases

Package

• Salary: £33,250 – £39,375 (£38,000 – £45,000 FTE) depending on experience

• Holidays: 6.6 weeks annual leave including bank holidays (pro rata)

• CPD: Annual CPD budget plus up to 2 paid CPD days
