Permanent Head Veterinary Nurse, Battersea, London
We are recruiting on behalf of a reputable veterinary practice in Battersea, London, for a Permanent Head Veterinary Nurse. This is a full-time, permanent position working 5 days a week, including 1 in 4 Saturday mornings (9am – 1pm), with no out-of-hours or on-call duties.
As Head Nurse, you will lead a dedicated nursing team consisting of two RVNs, one SVN, and one VCA, providing clinical leadership with confidence and compassion.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide clinical leadership and guidance to the nursing team

Oversee in-house training and ensure continuous professional development

Manage stock control and maintain inventory

Deliver exceptional patient and client care
-
Perform nurse consultations, in-patient care, anaesthetics, admits, discharges, and assist vets during consultations

Collaborate with the Practice Manager and Clinical Director on team decisions and practice operations
-
Conduct regular team meetings and wellbeing checks
-
Manage the nurse rota and daily diary to ensure appropriate coverage and smooth team management

Support Practice Manager with sickness, absence, and annual leave coordination for nursing and reception teams

Organise team social events to foster a positive work environment
What they are looking for:

Qualified RVN with strong leadership skills and a compassionate approach

Passionate about mentoring and developing team members, particularly SVNs and VCAs

Excellent communicator with colleagues and clients
-
Forward-thinking, adaptable, and able to manage diverse situations effectively

Confident in clinical knowledge and nursing skills
-
Previous Head Nurse experience preferred, but experienced RVNs ready to progress are encouraged to apply
