A busy and well-established 24/7 veterinary hospital in Leeds is currently seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join its dynamic team. This is a full-time, permanent position, ideal for a consult-focused vet with a strong background in UK small animal practice.
About the Role:

4-day working week (Monday to Friday)
-
1 in 4 weekends (10-hour shifts on Saturday and Sunday, no sole charge, primarily ECC, 30-minute sick pet consults, inpatient care)

No requirement for a high surgical caseload – this role is best suited to vets who prefer consulting and medical management

Well-supported by in-house certificate holders in Surgery, Medicine, and Dentistry

Dedicated inpatient, ECC, and referral support services
-
£1,500 annual CPD allowance with certificate support encouraged
-
Active in-house clinical development team with structured CPD
The Ideal Candidate:
The practice is looking for a highly competent, UK-experienced veterinary surgeon who meets one or more of the following profiles:
-
Consult-Only Vets – Experienced vets seeking a role focused primarily on consultations in a supportive and clinically strong environment.
-
Vets with Ophthalmology Interests – Those with a special interest or background in ophthalmology who would like to combine consulting with ophthalmology clinics and procedure days. There is significant potential to develop ophthalmology services due to internal referrals from 19 feeder practices.

Experienced Medical Vets – Candidates comfortable with a mix of consulting and inpatient/hospital care. Particularly suitable for vets with imaging experience or a passion for managing complex medical cases and hospitalisation.
Please Note:

This is not a suitable position for newly qualified vets, those requiring training, or vets without prior experience in UK clinical practice.

The practice currently has a full surgical team, so this role is not suitable for candidates seeking high-volume surgical caseloads.

Common Caseloads:

Emergency surgeries (caesareans, pyometras, enterotomies/enterectomies)

Addisonian crises, ketoacidotic diabetics, severe pancreatitis cases

In-house lab (Procyte, Catalyst Dx, EPOC, APTT/PT)

CT scanner
-
Digital X-ray, Advanced ultrasound with Doppler

Dental X-ray with CR7 developer

Video scopes (gastroscope, bronchoscope, otoscope)

Multiparameter monitoring (ECG, SpO2, capnography, BP, temp)

Laparoscopy

Gen11 vessel sealing, Ligaclips

E20 sterilisation system
