We are recruiting for a Permanent Veterinary Surgeon on behalf of an independent small animal practice in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey. This role is full time for 4 days per week with shifts from 9am to 6pm, along with 1 in 5 Saturday mornings. Part time hours can be considered. There will be no OOH work or on-call duties.
Key details:
- Type: Small animal
- Hours: Full time, 4 days per week, shifts from 9am to 6pm
- Weekends: 1 in 5 Saturday mornings
- TOIL: Thursday afternoon off before working Saturdays
- OOH: None
- Team: 7 vets, a strong nursing team and a supportive non-clinical team
- Consultations: Minimum of 15 minutes
- Branch work: Covering two nearby branches
About the role:
- They are looking for a vet who is looking to develop their skills
- You will have full support from the experienced clinical team
- There will be a good mix of surgery days and consult days with plenty cases coming through the door each day
- The work environment where vets are empowered to make informed decisions about patient care
- They have 4 branches and this role will be based full time at their new branch practice
- With established teams, many of whom have been with them for more than 5 years
- They have a good environment, caseload and offer plenty of room for progression.
- A vet with surgical interest is preferred but not essential

- 1 main branch with 3 other sister sites
- 7 vets with additional long term locum vets in place
- Pet Health Certificate – most of their vets are qualified OVs and the whole team have a wealth of experience in advising clients on all aspects of travelling with pets
- The main branch facilities include fully air conditioned separate dog, cat and isolation wards
- They use Adaptil and Feliway sprays and provide toys, blankets and beds to help patients reduce stress and feel more at home
Facilities:
- Separate dog, cat and isolation wards with sprays and diffusers to reduce stress
- Sterile theatre with positive pressure and Hepa-filtered air conditioning
- Piped gases and isoflurance vaporisers
- Full anaesthetic monitoring equipment, including capnography and pulse oximetry
- Infusion pumps
- Full Storz Laparoscopic surgical tower
- Electrosurgery and bipolar diathermy
- Olympus videogastroscope and Olympus videobronchoscope
- Separate Prep room
- Agfa CR digital x-ray with bucky table
- Dental theatre with Burtons air-driven dental unit and Kruuse piezo scaler and Kodak DR digital dental x-ray with wall-mounted generator
- Philips EnVisor HD ultrasound
- ECG
- Blood pressure monitors – doppler and oscillometric
- Critical care incubator
- Idexx Lasercyte and CatalystDx
- Heine ophthalmoscopes and tonometer
Package:
- Salary: £60,000 to £75,000 per annum, commensurate to experience
- Holidays: 28 days annual leave, increasing with service
- CPD: Generous allowance with 5 days to attend

Must haves:
- RCVS registered and qualified or soon to be
- Possess the right to work in the United Kingdom
