- Are you a qualified and RCVS registered veterinary surgeon?
- Are you looking to join an established veterinary hospital in Buckinghamshire?
Are you looking for…

- A 4-day week?
- No OOH work?
We are recruiting on behalf of a small animal hospital in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire for a Locum Veterinary Surgeon to provide maternity leave cover for 15 months on a fixed term basis. This role is full time for 40 hours per week over 4 days, along with weekends on a rota. The practice can also accomodate a 5-day week for 35 to 40 hours per week. There will be no OOH work or on-call duties.
About the role
They are looking for a vet to help expand their hospital team. This is an established small, farm and equine practice in a modern purpose-built hospital with 5 small animal branch surgeries and a separate site for their farm animal work. They have been established for many years and boast an excellent reputation within the community.
This role sees a mixture of consulting, surgeries and inpatient care so the practice is looking for someone who has good all-round skills. An interest in ECC or internal medicine would be advantageous but not essential. You will focus on a busy small animal caseload and will consult at the branch surgeries on occasion. There is some sole charge work invovled within the branch surgeries so the vet would need to be confident in this area.
We are looking for a confident and capable all-rounder who strives for high clinical standards in general practice. The role will be split between consulting, operating and inpatient management, so a good level of experience is required. Sole charge work at branch surgeries is limited to consultations only, with all procedures carried out at the hospital.
About them
The practice boasts state of the art facilities with high spec equipment. They can treat a range of more complex surgeries so rarely there is a need to refer cases. They have advanced surgical orthopaedic capabilities and are also able to treat a range of exotic species. They boast three operating theatres within the hospital which has state of the art equipment.
They are also a nurse training practice and have University students at the practice most of the year. Each Vet gets 35 hours of CPD per year and nurse 15 hours. There is also support and encouraged with staff development and areas of special interest and post graduate qualifications are supported. This is a busy hospital practice which treats a huge variety of cases, with exposure to more complex cases thus offering an excellent career development opportunity to the right candidate.
