Permanent Head Veterinary Nurse – Hayes, London

We are recruiting on behalf ofa small animal practice in Hayes for a Permanent Head Veterinary Nurse to join their team. This role is full time for 40 hours per week, along with weekends on a rota. There will be no OOH work or on-call duties.

This is a busy small animal practice which offers a wide range of modern veterinary services and facilities. They comprise of a friendly team of 3 Vets and deal with a wide range of surgeries and consultations.

The practices provide a high standard of clinical care and pride themselves on having staff members who stand apart from the rest and have a real passion and vision for how they work. They provide ongoing training and support to all team members through dedicated training centres. All staff also benefit from the access to the best diagnostic equipment such as MRI machines and CT scanners and state of the art operating theatres in the nearest animal hospital.

About the role

The role involves all aspects of general nursing and includes the day to day running of the practice. As Head Nurse they will be responsible for the development of nurse clinics and will actively promote new ideas on how to improve the running of the practice. Sharing best practice with the team is key, leading by example and providing ongoing support and mentoring where required. They must have excellent customer care and communication skills and be able to develop good working relationships with clients and fellow team members.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Complete all aspects of nursing duties
• Assist the vets
• Supervise the nursing and auxillary staff
• Clinical coaching duties for SVNs
• Provide council to all nursing and ancillary team where required on performance
• Liaise with the Senior Vet to ensure that schedule 3 procedures are maximised for all suitable and trained RVNs
• Organise rotas and liaise with senior Vet and regional team to ensure all practice needs are met
• The RVN will be involved with part of the recruitment process within the practice
• Assist the management team with the administration that is needed to complete the smooth day to day running of the practice.
• Take responsibility for monitoring stock control and adhering to budget
• Reception enquiries when required
• Liaise with clients and ensure accurate information is passed on regarding their pets
• Co-ordinate training for Nurses and Animal Care assistants – liaise with management team
• Ensure opportunities are available for team members to gain experience and provide support and encourage where necessary
• Induction training of new staff members
• Assist management with performance reviews
• Ensure staff are compliant with Health and Safety Policies.

• Previous leadership experience is advantageous but not essential
• You will have clinical coaching experience or be looking to become a clinical coach

Package:

• Salary: Up to £37,500 per annum, commensurate on experience
