The Opportunity
We are recruiting a surgically minded Veterinary Surgeon to join a friendly and experienced team in Chester-le-Street, Durham.
This is an excellent opportunity for a confident vet who enjoys surgery and wants to work within a supportive environment alongside experienced colleagues and a passionate nursing team.
The practice is modern and spacious, located near the town centre, and offers an excellent clinical setup with dedicated wards, a large waiting area, spacious prep room and a separate imaging suite. The clinic is also an ISFM-accredited Cat Friendly practice with a dedicated feline entrance, waiting area and ward.
The Role
This is a six-month fixed term contract working 40 hours over four days per week, with 1 in 5 Saturday mornings.
You will:
• Deliver exceptional clinical care in both consults and surgery.
• Develop tailored treatment plans with clear client communication.
• Work collaboratively within a supportive and experienced team.
• Maintain high clinical, regulatory and operational standards.
• Contribute to ongoing clinical development within the practice.
Candidate Profile
• MRCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon.
• Confident surgical skills and sound clinical judgement.
• Strong communication and client care abilities.
• Team-focused with a proactive approach.
• Committed to maintaining high professional standards.

• Digital and dental x-ray.
• Endoscopy.
• Ultrasound.
• In-house haematology and biochemistry analysers.
• Dedicated imaging suite and prep areas.

Must Haves
