Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon – 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract
Location: Colne, Lancashire
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established veterinary practice in East Lancashire for a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join their team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a full-time position, but flexible working options will be considered.
The Practice:

A long-established, reputable practice with a main hospital in Colne and two branch practices

Provides high-quality, first-opinion care for small animals across the region

Well-equipped with:

Digital x-ray and ultrasound
-
Flexible and rigid endoscopy
-
Two surgical theatres with multiparameter monitors
-
Dedicated dental suite with dental x-ray
-
Extensive in-house laboratory
-
Four consulting rooms and a bereavement room
-
Separate canine and feline inpatient wards
-

Offers a varied and high caseload, allowing for growth and development in many clinical areas
The Role:
-
Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon – 12-month FTC
-
Full-time preferred, but flexible arrangements open to discussion
-
Involvement in an out-of-hours service, on a rotation of 3-, 4-, and 5-day weeks across an 8-week rolling rota
-
Only two 5-day weeks in every 8-week cycle for full-time vets on-call
-
24 hours off provided after on-call shifts
-
Extra days off available – open and supportive to individual working preferences
Salary & Benefits:

Competitive salary: £40,000 – £60,000 pro rata (dependent on experience)

£1,700 CPD allowance per year, with 5 days paid CPD leave (pro rata)

Certificates actively encouraged and financially supported

RCVS membership and VDS cover included

Two additional professional subscriptions covered
