We are working with an independent veterinary practice in Worthing, West Sussex who are currently recruiting for a Permanent Veterinary Nurse to manage one of their successful branches. This role is part time for 30 hours per week over 3 to 5 days. There is a shared weekend rota with days off in lieu after working a weekend. There will be no OOH work or on-call duties.
The RVN will work with the head nurse and the nursing manager of the group and will be responsible for performing general nursing services and clinical care. They will also support and coach SVNs and ensure high standards are maintained within the practice. They will also be responsible for ensuring the positive and harmonious work environment. You will have a friendly and approachable manner, have the ability to lead by example setting a positive example to others and always have a positive attitude.
Duties include:
- General nursing duties – including nurse consultations
- Clinical coaching duties
- Train and mentor team members where required
Key details:
- Type: Small animal
- Hours: Part time, 30 hours per week over 3 to 5 days
- Weekends: Shared weekend rota

- Lieu: Days off in lieu after working a weekend
- Team: 4 RVNs in the branch team, as well as vets and support staff
- Branch work: Weekends are worked at another local practice

An independent veterinary practice in West Sussex who have been providing care to the local area for over 50 years, expanding at a rapid rate in the previous decade. They provide a complete small animal service across all their practices, as well as a 24/7 practice providing an on-call service.
They pride themselves on their independent, family feel and have a very low staff turnover, supporting their team with their careers and day to day lives.
The candidate:
You will need to be a competent veterinary nurse with a strong all round skill set. You will enjoy being involved in all aspects of nursing and willing to get involved with whatever comes your way. You will need patience and excellent customer service skills to ensure all clients are left feeling satisfied.
Skills required:
- Excellent client facing and communication skills
- The ability to establish good working relationships with both clients and team members
- Ensure that they have up to date knowledge of all practice protocols
- Clinical coaching skills
- Be able to work under pressure and have good organisational skills
- Have ambition and look to further develop clinical skills and knowledge
Package:
- Salary: £26,000 to £33,000 pro rata, commensurate to experience
- Holidays: 7 weeks annual leave, including bank holidays pro rata
- CPD: Generous allowance
- Memberships: RCVS and VDS fees paid
- Sick pay scheme
- Company pension scheme
Must haves:
- RCVS registered and qualified or soon to be
- Possess the right to work in the United Kingdom
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
